Well, It's not the next page ... (sorry) ^_^ But I have been working on this illustration simultaneously and just wanted to post it. It was done in Photoshop.
The idea began as an exploration of reoccurring Zutara themes. This one is based on the yin yang symbol. The balance of the two opposing sides. Male and female, dark and light ... etc. So this is what I came up with: Sweet Zutaran goodness.
[sigh] Did you ever dream after the season finale that it would be June and still NO AVATAR SEASON 3?
Zuko and Katara are from Avatar The Last Airbender.
But I love to draw them in LOVE!
Oh, yes. That still makes me mad. It was supposed to be out in April. Why are they doing this to us?! Yeah, I like the concept behind it, and the coloring is different but good ^.^

"I would read your journal, but your CSS hurts my eyes."
But Aang and Zuko work with Yin and Yang, too. Blue and red, first alphabetical name and last alphabetical name ("aa" and "zu," hard to pass), hero and antihero....
It is a theme, though.
It works for Maizu, too, though! [/stubbornlydefiantandveryshipdefensiveton ight]

"Put an apple on your head, and we'll find out how good I am!"
When Toph punches Aang, it's called chemistry; when Mai teases Zuko, it's called insensitivity.
OH i love this wonderful wonderful wonderful and so symbolic. *sigh* SEASON 3, WHERE ARE YOU, DAMNIT?!! THIS IS NOT EVEN FUNNY ANYMORE!!!!!!

Lovely, I like the pose. And yes, this time last year we were waiting for Fury of the Avatar episodes in July. Now we've still got three months until September for "the Awakening"

Thanks. It's kinda sketchy and I was trying new things with the coloring and effects in Photoshop. But over all it's cool, and I'm ready to move on to the next one ...
I like how they're cradling each other's heads, and that they're not totally unnatural looking while doing so! Most people, when doing the yin/yang thing always make the people bendy and stuff, you did a great job!

Zukaang - I don't think the yin-yang 'theme' works as well for Aang and Zuko. Aang is orange for me, not blue. You know the buddhist color of enlightenment ... plus his costume is predominantly orange. And if he were to be paired with an opposite it would be the villain not the anti-hero. The anti-hero is parallel to the hero, at least in this case. I'll give you the a-z thing. Alpha and Omega ... Plus they are both guys ... I like to equate the yin-yang with feminine/masculine energy as well. Sorry Zukaangers yin/yang is not the best symbol for you. But I've never seen anyone try to use it that way.
Maizu - does have the female/male thing. (Really important in my opinion. ^_^) But I see them not as opposing forces but rather kindred spirits. They are both sweet and gentle on the inside (I'm basing my theory about Mai on her childhood crush on Zuko.) but their circumstances, ie. living in the higher echelon of firenation society, has made them hard and callous on the surface. If season 3 ever starts we may see them bring out the sweetness in each other. (would be nice.)
Of course, my interest in Maizu conflicts with my deepest wishes for Zutara but there's nothing wrong with a little of both. In real life, most people experience more than one love in a lifetime. I've had a few ... and am open to the next one. ^_^ Of course my lifetime is longer than 20 episodes.
